Mystery Craft Solved

Now that the mystery craft has been revealed to be a precious little antique purse, I thought I'd show you the one I've already finished.

Is this not the cutest thing you've ever seen? Does that not look like you can just pick up that purse by that sweet little chain?
Pink Antique Cross Stitch Purse

I've cross stitched a lot in the past, so I figured these would be a breeze. I mean, they're not even 2 1/2 inches wide! I should finish them in no time! Um no. Instead of the usual, where you are counting one hole over for each stitch, on this one you have to count two holes over. After a while other things start to cross instead of just the stitches. Like my eyes!? Needless to say, beside the fact that counting this cross stitch was harder than I bargained for, I also somehow managed to [yet again] fowl up another crafting effort.

Exhibit A:
Light Green Brown vs Gold
Yep. I stitched that entire section with "light green" when I should have used "light green brown", which in the REAL world looks a lot like GOLD.

So, I thought I'd be sneaky and just stitch the "light green brown" (GOLD!) over the "light green". [Hey, I've done this before and it worked. In fact, I did it on the pink purse above but I bet you can't tell where. I can't even tell where, now!] Unfortunately, it didn't work quite as well with these two colors and I finally had to pull all that stitching out and start alllll over again.

Exhibit B: After corrections.
Light Green Brown vs Gold

So, I haven't made much progress lately. That goof really messed up my concentration....

....well, that and the fact that I've been otherwise occupied every night this week. As a matter of fact, I hear Lizzy and Mr. Darcy calling me now.

Just darling!:)

1. Are there more?

2. What are you going to do with them?

3. Just watched "Miss Austen Regrets"....good flick about a fabulous writer.

Yes, there is one more and I can't wait to finish them all. I have no idea what I am doing with them yet, but when Mom saw them and heard I was thinking of giving them as gifts she said, "I want them!" like a little kid. I'll probably frame them each seperately to make a grouping. I was thinking of pillows, but I don't know if I'm that ambitious yet.

Was that movie on TV or did you netflix it??

Those are precious. I love mystery crafts.

And, I believe I am one of the only English majors in the history of the world to dislike Pride and Prejudice. And I don't completely dislike it, but I after reading it twice in one semester, I will probably never read it again, thats for sure.

I want to read Sense and Sensibility. I adore the movie but have so far been unable to start the book. strange.

WHAT? Not like Pride and Prejudice? That's it, you're disowned...

But seriously. What? I loved Sense and Sensibility as well as Emma. But, if you didn't like P&P, I don't see the odds being any better for you and S&S.

Hi Foobella,

The purses are darling and little works of art. They would be great framed as a grouping and hanging on the wall.

Have a great creative week.

Thanks for visiting, Erin. That makes two for framed in a group. That's probably what I'll do. =)

Hi Foobella, your purse is simply gorgeous!! It reminds me of the purses in my collection. yes, it does look like you could pick it right up.

I love cross stitch, I too am amazed though at how often I get off course with them and then I end up having to improvise.

I see you are reading one of my favorite books in the world. Enjoy.

Absolutely beautiful - you're very detail oriented! Those funny little mistakes we all make is what makes a handcrafted item so much more precious than a machine manufactured item. I call it 'character'. Happy creating!

I just noticed that I got disowned. thats a shame.

Did you see "Lost in Austen" on the Ovation network? A woman who pours over "Pride and Prejudice" every chance she gets and dearly wants to step into that world suddenly finds she has. She changes places with Elizabeth Bennett.

Tattered, thanks for visiting. No. I don't have the ovation network, but if it's on Netflix, I'll definitely be adding it. Thanks!
