I have these two bookcases you soon will see.
They traveled a long way to be with me.
I went two rounds with the normal paint stripper
But the paint had a mind to stay on them forever.

I went two rounds with the normal paint stripper
But the paint had a mind to stay on them forever.

So, the bookcases sat on my porch for a year.
Then the neighbors asked questions and started to stare.
I finally broke down and brought them inside
For the shame of their sad state I needed to hide
I wanted to paint them, but, Oh, what to do
I had lost the desire to deal more with that goo.
Another year and the bookcases just sat
In my small living room to 'ever look at.
See, I had this idea for such a long while.
And I drew it up in my very own style.
Once again I got things underway
With this new stuff they call PeelAway!
With this new stuff they call PeelAway!
The product worked out like a charm
But I ended up doing more harm!
For the PeelAway paper ran out. Ain't that swell?
And I thought newsprint might work just as well.
Silly me, thinking that did the trick
But it ended up drying like brick!

So, they sat for a week and a day
Till my Dad looked at them in his own way.
And with his brain always ticking away.
For him this job was merely child's play.
So he soon got to work with great TLC
And he finished these bookcases just for me.

Now I'm so very happy to say
(And I promise, without further delay)
That they'll come home with me e'er to stay.

That they'll come home with me e'er to stay.

I just love your poem and the bookcase is so cute with its new look!
Thanks! It was all hard work, so I figured the post should be hard work, too. =)
Love the poem! And the bookcases look beautiful. I'm crazy about that Turquoise Sea color.
Wow what a transformation! Would not have believed that was the same bookcase!
I've never heard of Peel Away Paper, but I doubt if I'll go looking for any. I'm glad your shelves turned out so beautifully and we got such a fun story with it all.
