So Good It Makes Me Want To Sing

Petit Four Me
I'm fortunate enough to work at an office where our lunch is often catered by sales reps.

Well, today I had a little taste of heaven in these petit fours (if that's what you'd call it) they brought in. I try not to use crappy cell phone pictures for my blog, but there was no way this little guy was going to wait till I got home to a real camera. I mean, it must be good if I felt the need to blog about it, right?*

I don't know what they've got packed in these babies, but it's cake-like as well as cookie-like and it's wonderfully dense and moist and chocolatey and I swear there has to be some kind of liqueur in them. And no, I don't mean liqour (licker). I mean liqueur (lik-cure), if you get my drift. It tastes as wonderful and fancy as that pronunciation. They might not end up being high art food, but they sure got my taste buds a-singin' arias.

The caterer used by the sale rep was "Florimontes", but I'm not sure if this came from them as well. It was on a platter dripping with a host of other sugary concoctions. I think I'm going to have to make a phone call here soon. Anyone knowing anything more about these little bite-sized pretties please leave me a comment.

*This post reminds me of a long ago writing assigment where I had to describe an everyday object in detail, but without once mentioning the item. The class then had to figure out what it was. Of course, me being me, I chose the oh-so-every-day item; a gun. [Hmmm, I bet if you wrote about that today, you'd be in the principal's office within seconds.] I think I might have to unearth that and read it again.

[Only here folks, can you get conversations about petit fours and firearms.]

Rainbow cookies! Most Italian bakeries in NY have them. SO yummy. one of my faves too...Gothamist has an article about them with a recipe too (but I'd never make them when I can buy them just as easily)...cant seem to post a link here, so just google Gothamist, rainbow and cookies to find it.

Yum.

Wow - they look good. I had four tiny little French macarons in a cafe yesterday with a friend - similar tastebud delight! Each one had a different flavour - lemon, hazelnut, pistacio and dark chocolate centres. It's been good to find your name on my followers list, and I've enjoyed beginning to discover your blog!
